Text Messages about Nuclear Reactor Radiation Leakage, just a Text Hoax - PNRI

Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) and Department of Health (DOH) in an interview by a local media confirmed that a circulating text message in the Philippines saying to stay inside their homes tomorrow to avoid exposure of nuclear radiation, is definitely not true and just a text hoax. Department of Science and Technology (DOST) also said that it is impossible for the Philippines to get infected with such radiation coming from a nuclear meltdown because the country is in the south of Japan, whereas winds carrying radioactive elements should travel east of Japan. The circulating text message caused panic to those who received the said hoax text message. 

The text message goes like this (In Filipino):

"PAALALA:

4:30 in the afternoon sumabog ung isang nuclear power plant sa Fukushima!!! kapag Umulan dw mamya at bukas, wala dw lalabas.. kung nasa labas naman kayo, siguraduhin niong naka KAPOTE o nakaPAYONG kayo, dahil kapag naulanan kayo, delikado daw.may tendency masunog balat nio, makalbo o magka CANCER"

Kung may nataggap po kayong text na ganito ang sinasabi, wag po tayong maniwala ang mag panic sapagkat ito po ay walang katotohanan!.
