Top Buzzer Beaters in Pinoy Basketball

Watching basketball games are very exciting, with all the nice moves, acrobatic shots, intense defense, and even too much physicality that leads to unsportsmanlike actions. But the most exciting part of any basketball game is when the game would go down the wire finish, meaning opposing teams went toe-to-toe and keep the score as close as possible down to the last seconds of the game. Because on this type of game you could witness wild finishes like "for the win" shot or what we called "buzzer-beater" shots. Especially if my favorite team delivered the winning shot, it really made me shout and jump from where I am seated.

Well, as a pinoy basketball fanatic, here are the top 5 buzzer beaters which made me scream and jumped while watching them. Take note that these are games of the latest seasons of various Philippine basketball leagues and not those the times of my father.hehehe...

Gabe Norwood Tip-In at the buzzer vs. San Miguel Beerman

This was the second round elimination game between the Rain or Shine ElastoPainters and the San Miguel Beerman during the All Filipino Cup of the 34th season. The game was controlled by the powerhouse Beerman for most of the game until the ElastoPainters fought back hard and bring the game to this exciting finish. Rain or Shine won the game 93-92.

Import Jai Lewis hits buzzer beater 3 vs. Air21 to force overtime

Game played by the Rain or Shine Elastopainters and Air21 Express during the Fiesta Conference of the 35th Season of the PBA. The game was closely fought by both teams towards the end of regulation. Rain or Shine mapped their last play to force an extra 5 mins when Jai Lewis left open at the left wing for an open 3 point shot to send the game into overtime. The Elastopainters showed their strength at the overtime and eventually won the game 106-102. What a confidence for the big fella to take the last shot.

Doug Kramer Left Open for Lay-Up at the Buzzer

College basketball in the Philippines is very intense just like the professional game. Like the game one of finals of the 69th season of the UAAP between the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers. The Blue Eagles took control of the entire game, but the Tigers refuses to give up and even took the lead 72-71 with 1 second to play. With 1 second to play Norman Black mapped a perfect play to give Ateneo a 1-0 lead in the series. Look at how the team and the crowd celebrated.

Ryan Araña tip-in at the buzzer vs. Air21

If the first round match of Rain or Shine on the fiesta conference of the 35th season of the PBA was sent into overtime by a buzzer beater 3 by their former import Jai Lewis, the second round of the elimination was once again decided by a buzzer beater; but this time it was Ryan Araña made a Ron Artest follow up to give Rain or Shine their 8th win in 17 outings. But believe it or not this game didn't exactly looked like the way it ended. The Express were on top by 28 points on the 3rd quarter and looked like they'll just blow the ElastoPainters. But the ElastoPainters launched huge bomb on the fourth to grab the lead and keep the game close at the dying seconds of the game. On the last possession, Rod Nealy missed his jump shot but Araña was on the right spot for the follow up.

Jeffrei Chan buzzer-beater 3 vs. Air21

The Air21 Express seems to be the favorite team of Rain or Shine ElastoPainters when it comes to heartbreaking finishes. This game is the 3rd and probably no the last game that the ElastoPainters edged the Express at the buzzer. This game was the first meeting of both squad on the All Filipino Cup conference of the 36th season of the PBA. The game was controlled by the ElastoPainters on the early parts of the game but the express led by Ronjay Buenafe made a rally to keep the game at bay. Tied at 86, coach Caloy Garcia mapped a perfect play anchored on Sol Mercado as the decoy, and a nice kick out pass to Jeff Chan that sealed the game for the ElastoPainters 89-86.

Feel free to leave your comments after watching all the videos.

Is Earning Money Online Forever?

It's been a while since I started earning online money (probably 3 months), and I can say is that it is a fun experience. I already finished the course I am taking up, but up to know I haven't applied for any local job available. The reason is basically simple - I'm still earning money online with my content writing job. I am lucky enough to bid for a long term project and found a very generous client from Canada. Ever since I won the bid, he never stopped sending me works (mostly article rewriting jobs). But despite this continuous working relationship with my boss, I have this feeling inside of me that caused me to worry a bit. Is this type of job permanent?, or Is earning money online forever?. These questions continue to haunt me and disturbed my focus over the past days.

Internet marketing, as they call it is probably the most popular way to earn money online, and that includes content writing. There are lots of articles from the internet saying that there are lots of ways to earn money online: content writing, SEO, blogging etc. and you can make huge money out of these freelance jobs (as they call it). However, none of these sources ever mentioned that this type of job is long lasting.

Still, whether forever or not, the key in this type of job is still doing your best in every task your are given to. Always think of harnessing your skills and improve on every aspects. It is given that there are lots of competition on this type of job because of the popularity of the Internet, you need to market yourself as one of the best. The more skills and experience you have, the more jobs you will get in the future. More importantly, spend your money wisely.

Home Mortgage for Excellent Credit Score Borrowers

Mortgage is the best solution for those who want to own a new house but the financial status is unstable. The concept of mortgaging is simple; you let a bank or a creditor to pay your remaining obligations, but in return the bank or the creditor will retain the rights or ownership of the purchased house. You, the mortgagee can only get back the ownership of the house until you’ve finished paying the loan or have satisfied the condition set by the mortgage lender. So to get your dream house, all you have to do is save money for the down payment and let others pay the remaining balance. It’s more practical and timely than taking an eternity in saving money to pay the house in cash.

If you’re not new to loaning money from a bank or other credit providers, probably you already knew the term “credit score”. A score is given depending on how you pay your loans. So the more promptly you pay your obligations, the higher score and a good reputation you acquire. Perfect or excellent credit scores (from 760 to 850) means that you’ll have a better chance to be offered a loan with lower interest rates and best available options for home mortgage.

If so happen that you’re looking to apply for a new home mortgage online, PerfectScore Mortgage is the right place to go. They offer low and affordable interest rates and a wider option on the length of terms; 30 years, 15 years, 5 years or 1 year. If you don’t know the current mortgage rates in the market, the site displays a weekly update on mortgage rates in the market. If you’ve got an excellent or perfect credit score, then most likely you’ll get a better chance of approval. The site also provides all the information that you might need when applying for home mortgage, and a mortgage calculator to determine the total payment of your mortgage.

So what are you waiting for, if you have the perfect credit score then apply to PerfectScore to get the lowest interest and best offers available.

I am FRUSTRATED

There are times in your life that you will really get frustrated about something whether to a certain person, about work or school. Just yesterday, I really got very frustrated over my work.

Image from: clipartof.com

For how many months now, I'm into freelancing jobs specifically writing articles, content and reviews about any topic but I always prefer software or hardware related since it is the field of study. I got a client from other country and ask me to submit some article reviews about software and hardware, a $1.5/ 500-800 article At first, he appreciated my work, but there came a time he start to reject my articles, saying the my English was not good, the article is not good etc. I did my best revising those article but still my best wasn't good enough. Yesterday, after submitting another articles for him including those that were revised, he decided to stop working with me because he don't like my writing. I really got frustrated after I read his e-mail. I've done my best I can to make him satisfy but it was always not enough for him.

Well, I still believe that the articles I have written are good so I just used those to submit to another clients for review, those clients that don't have that high standard as him. I just got frustrated because I worked hard for my articles but it was just rejected. Maybe there are still things that I must learn as I go along with this freelancing career. There are still room for improvement so I will use my spare time reading reviews and practicing my writing skills through blogging.

I will show to him that it's his lost not mine after he stopped our project. There's still a lot of clients out there that like and will like my works.

3 Sleepless Nights

It’s been 3 nights since the last time I took my night sleep. Since then I haven’t slept at night for 3 nights now, or to be precise, my sleeping habits were completely changed since I first had my freelancing job as a content writer.

Not going to sleep at night is just a normal thing for me since when I was in my college days, there were also a lot of sleepless night finishing projects, reviewing for the exam, rehearsal for intramural and many more, so I’m used to not going to sleep at night.

There are a lot of things to be done as part of my freelancing career in article writing about software and hardware. I’m a computer science graduate and I’ m just waiting for my credentials to be released for me to start my job hunting. While waiting, I decided to look for a job on the Internet on anything that interests me and I can learn more. At first I looked for programming jobs but it just made me stress competing to those who are already professionals. So I decided to change my course and I landed to article writing. I’m also a blogger so writing an article about computers and any IT stuffs is very easy for me. So I decided to look for article writing jobs. Finally after a week of trying; bidding one project after the other, one article contacted by 5 days ago saying he was interested with my work and wanted to take my services as article writer about hardware and software, laptops etc. In the next day I just submitted a sample work for him to judge if I deserve the job or not. Luckily, I passed so I have the job now.

Since then, after the set of article topics was given to me, I changed my sleeping habits just to finish my job. I can’t use the computer in our home during morning since majority of the appliances are used on this time of the day. So I decided to reverse my sleeping habits, I slept in the morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then woke up , eat lunch, sleep again for an hour, then when night comes, I also starting to make articles which I eventually finished it early morning.

Honestly, it is so tiring but I’m doing it for the sake of money and job.

The Day Before Graduation (Celebrate it with GOD)

With just one day before the moment that I have waited for 5 years, I can't resist to feel so much excitement on my graduation day tomorrow. But before that day comes, I need to celebrate it in advance with the one who is responsible for this wonderful blessing and outstanding achievement in my life; our LORD and HIS SON JESUS CHRIST. SO with that in mind, I attended the baccalaureate mass scheduled for this day at the Sacred Heart Parish here in Davao city.

The mass was schedules 8 a.m but I'm so much excited and inspired to hear the word of GOD so I woke up early and fix myself so I could go early in the church. I went to church 20 minutes before 8. I already spotted some of my classmates in the church so I joined them and had a little conversation and picture taking for souvenir and remembrance for this will only happen once in my life. When the graduating students  wearing their togas and some parents started to come and filled the empty benches of the church, the atmosphere became filled with so much excitement, fun and solemnity. Graduating students from different colleges started to feel the joy after 5 years of hard work and efforts to finish our studies

The mass started at around 8:30 a.m. What made the mass unforgettable for me was the words that the priest shared to us before he ended his homily. Each on of us had given a job to do in this world. Each of us had given a mission to be fulfilled and that is the ultimate purpose of our exsistence. Graduating in college is just the beginning of our journey into the real world. He even shared to us a song about the job that GOD gave to each one of us.

The mass ended with me being inspired after hearing the word of GOD. It made my graduation day for tomorrow complete knowing I celebrated it with GOD. Thank you LORD for allowing me to finish my studies and giving me everything I need to achieve it.

I'm excited for tomorrow's graduation. I'm sure to have it on this blog tomorrow to share it to the world.

THE TEAM THEY CALLED "BAN OF BROTHERS"

There was this moment in your college life that you will never forget and will last in your memory for eternity. So if I will going to name what would be that moment in my college life that I could tagged as the most memorable and happiest one it would be when I have my classmates as my friends and spending many hours with them everyday learning, joking, laughing and many more. The friendship that we have started when we were on our 1st and 2nd years in college but it was only in our 4th year that we came up with a name for the group that we have. Actually there was a history on why we called our group as “THE BAND OF BROTHERS” and I’m proud to write in on my blog post the group that became famous on our very own department.

The group Band of Brothers is a group composed of Computer Science (CS) and Information Technology (IT) students from the Institute of Computing department of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP). So based on the nature of our course, we need some sort of computers for us to sustain the needs for our subjects like programming. Sadly, majority of us don’t have our own personal computers or laptops so we need to utilize the computer laboratory within our department. So as more and more projects filing up added with some projects from other students who asked our services to create programs for them, our faces has become common scenery inside the computer laboratory. So after our classes, we go directly inside the laboratory starting to rock and roll. But in spite of our background as good students, we are also open on doing silly things and these silly things added to the tight bond that our group already had. But take note our group has no alias yet that time. We never expected that also these things will ignite us to name our group as Ban of Brothers. With that, let me name you what are these silly things that only the Band of Brothers could do.

Hacking of Account using finger speed

Yes you read it right, hacking of account. But before I will put my diploma in danger, let me explain first that this is neither hacking on the database of our school nor confidential data of the administration. The internet laboratories inside the USeP campus are not free as all students are aware of it. Before students can access the web inside the campus they have to validate their id number and use it as their username and password to a log-in system called vaqsys. So if username and password is verified in the server as existed and validated, then a student can access the web for 21 hrs. Per semester but later increased to 50 hrs/semester. So for 1 semester, we are only allowed to use the laboratory for 50 hrs. And this is insufficient for us having to use computer every day. So we have no choice but to look for an alternative to survive in our department. Since we are using the same ID no. format with the other students and many of them are unaware of changing their passwords, so we used that opportunity to have more time inside the laboratory. The technique is using the speed of your finger.

With username and password is the same, then we just needed to randomly enter some series of random numbers and if got lucky, then we can use the computer laboratory without using our own account. That’s why we lasted for 1 semester inside the laboratory even if the number of hours allotted is not enough. But to those lower years of our department who might read this, I’m discouraging you for doing so because you don’t know the consequence of such actions.

Modify IP Address for a Faster Internet Connection

Our school is not the richest school in Davao City; in fact it is one of the schools that offer a very low tuition fee because it is a state university but also one that offers high quality education. Since it is a public university, the facilities inside including the computer laboratories are not that expensive and high technology. There are times that there are no vacant units inside the laboratory since there are only about 30 units that will going to cater the needs of 3000+ students. Not only is the hardware specification suffers but also the internet connections. There are times that internet connection is very slow and took too long to open Google website. So with that, we need to change the IP address of the PC we are using to connect to the internet. We use dynamic IP. But the problem is that network places were disabled on all computers so we need to learn first how to enable it back. Sorry I don’t teach you how to do so for it is not good the computer units inside the lab if done without caution. We usually do it at night where internet down frequently happens.

Bypass Vaqsys for Fee Access

This next thing is the worst thing we have done inside the computer laboratory is to bypass the installed vaqsys server to freely access the computer laboratories. Again, it is not easy to do and I will not teach the younger students in the department. This is also the thing that made us the Ban of Brothers. The story goes like this; the technician inside the laboratory has started to doubt about this problem because some of the units are not functioning already or could not be logged in by other students since the IP that the computer has is now different from the default ones. So when the computer restarts, the network server will not find the computer because of its new assigned IP. So the technician used this computer as a bait to catch who is doing such things inside the laboratory. During that afternoon, there were only 2 of the group who were inside the laboratory and sadly, there is only 1 vacant so I told my classmate Rendell that I will be the one to use the remaining unit. Unexpectedly, he used the bait unit. He successfully logged in to the unit so the technician who happened to be at the server at that time came to Rendell and asked him how did he managed to logged in that unit. Rendell had no choice but to teach the technician how he do it. After an hour of use, Rendell logged out but before he reached the glass door of the laboratory, he was escorted by the technician to the department’s secretary and said “ban this person from using the laboratory. He is now a blacklist student in the laboratory for bypassing the vaqsys logger”. After I heard it, I was so nervous that I logged out my account and went out of the laboratory so that I will not be involved.

But the morning after Rendell went to school bringing letter stating the violation committed and addressed to the dean of our department. We were shocked that our names were in the back portion of the letter. We even had a talk with Rendell on why he included us in the letter. But the friendship prevailed and we voluntarily signed the letter.

After the letter being submitted to the dean, we were all asked to report to the dean’s office and each of us explained what had happened inside the computer laboratory. The dean discussed to us the corresponding punishment of the violation we committed. He even scared us that he will submit our names into the office of the Vice President on Academic Affairs of the university but it didn’t happen because we agreed to serve the punishment to be banned from using the computer laboratory for a month and to render our services in helping the secretary like sorting documents, shutting down the computer units during closing time etc. After that meeting and little sermon inaugurated the official name of our group as THE BAND OF BROTHERS. Since then up to this very moment where majority of us already graduates, we still called our friendship and group that way.

The good thing about the Ban of Brothers was that our bond didn’t end on the 4 corners of the campus or 5 years of college life but it is still continuing and even growing as many alumni of our department wants to include themselves on our group. Also the group is very active on both academic and non-academic bonding like bowling, drinking sometimes, playing computer games, karaoke and many more. Everyone in the group shows sharing to everyone on both material and non-material thing.

That’s why I never regretted the day when I joined this group of people. I’m proud to say that everyone in this group knows how to balance school and socialization. I will never forget everyone who has been part of my daily life in my college days sharing stories, laughter and even love problems. I can say that this group is a true friend for me that they will never live you in times when you need them. Sad to say we need to say goodbye with each other as we depart ways from school to work. I expected that after our graduation; we will now seldom see each other maybe in facebook we can still communicate, but nothing more special and happy if we will see each other soon.

Now that THE BAN OF BROTHERS will graduate after 5 years of staying the Institute of Computing Department, hope that the young ones in our department will show unity with each other, set aside competition and work as a team, be passionate on their craft and most of all, have faith in GOD though I’m not encouraging them in fact I’m discouraging them in doing the above stuffs because it will do no good for all of you. I can’t wait to see the young generation of the Ban of Brothers.

Blind Rivets

A rivet is a very important component in mechanical field for it act as a fastener for cars, in bridges and in aircraft industry for it provides a firm grip on the devices that are used in these fields. But as the equipments in which it is being used, tightening it becomes a very difficult task for it needs some very expensive tools which is also very uncomfortable and difficult to use.

Blind Rivet solves this problem for it is very easy to install. It is a type of rivet that is composed of a 2 piece fastener namely the body or sleeve and the setting device or mandrel. No need for expensive tools and heavy equipment for it is very easy to install. All you need to do is to pull the mandrel head into the blind rivet's body to expand the rivet. When the mandrel reaches the face of the blind side of the device being tightened, the rivet will form a very tight joint on that material. That's all you already have a very tight joint that cannot be easily loosen up when using it.

Blind Rivet comes in different brands, sizes and model depending on where you gonna use it.

How To Back Mask a Song

Backmasking or Backward Masking is a recording technique that a music or sound is recorded backward instead of a normal forward recording. According to some, back masking is the way for other artists to hide the real message of the song they want to share to the listener and most of this messages are satanic or anti-christ, about sex or anything that are not accepted by the society.

This process of recording has been popularized by The Beatles and since then there are a lot of artists that are hiding the true message of the songs they release. Be careful as some of this songs might be your favorite. In this tutorial I will teach you how to back mask or reverse a song for you also to unfold the secret behind your favorite song if any.

There are a lot of audio editing software that are capable of back masking or reversing a song like audacity which is an open source software, but a very common way of doing back masking without the means of searching and downloading audio editing software is through using the sound recorder that is bundled within the Windows operating system and in this tutorial I will teach you how to back mask a song using sound recorder.

  1. Click Start> All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder. You can also refer to be image below to save time finding sound recorder on your PC.

  2. Sound
Recorder application will load quickly as in the image below.

 3. At
the menu on the upper left corner of the application, click
File>Open then the open window containing different files in
different directories will appear, select the song you want to back
mask and then click OK.
Take
note also that sound recorder only accepts song in .wav format and
no other. If the song you want to back mask is .mp3 or other
extension than .wav, convert it first to .wav using converters like
total video.

 4. After the song or
music you want to back mask has been loaded into the sound recorder
program, on the menu Click Effects>Reverse and the music is now
ready to be played in reverse order.
 5. On
the sound recorder program, click the play button to start playing
the song in reverse order, you must finish playing the song before
saving it to fully have the complete black masked version of the
song.

6. After
the song is played in reverse order, save the song by clicking
File>Save on the menu and presto, you have now the back masked
version of the song you want to back masked.

Just
a piece of advice: when you attempt to back masked a song, don’t do
it if you are alone especially at night for you will be shocked and
scared when you hear the true message hidden behind your favorite
song.
Good
Luck in your Back Masking Experience. (You can search youtube.com for
popular back masked songs and their meaning.)

The Graduation Fever is ON

Today, March 29,2010 was scheduled as the first among the series of practices for our graduation this coming April 15,2010. At last after 4 years of going to school listening to endless lectures of our instructors, sleepless nights of creating projects developing "running" programs, reading and analyzing source codes and mathematical formulas, taking exams that made us nosebleeds and cause to much ache on our heads and our hearts, sad to say all of these happy memories has come to an end. There were a lot of memories to be reminisce both happy and sad, bitter and sweet and all flavors that best describes our journey as a Computer Science student of the University of Southeastern Philippines and these memories will be in my heart and will be tresured forever.

Now going back to the practice, the call time was 3:00 P.M for the colleges that belong to the 1st batch of the graduation ceremonies that includes College of Engineering (CE), Institute of Computing (IC), College of Technology (CT), College of Governance, Business and Economics (CGBE) and the Masteral and Ph.D graduates of the university for the year 2010. Unfortunately, there were delays on starting the programs as the organizers came late by more than 30 minutes and also the heavens blessed all the graduating students as the rain began falling. So the practice resumed at around 4:00 P.M. There were only few graduating students attended the practice for unknown reasons. Majority of graduating students from our department were present and that goes to shows that we are all excited to graduate. So we assembled at the center field of our university as the chosen venue for the practice. At first, I felt bad after seeing few students from other department assembling and take note there were only 2 department who were there at the call time. What a shameful act of s graduating students.

But all my frustration and tiredness of standing and waiting for the practice to start were all vanished when the graduation march theme was played. It was such a good feeling, a feeling of joy and excitement on what will happen (tumayo ung balahibo ko in tagalog) after hearning the graduation march theme. Sadly, the graduation practice was postponed as it rains very hard causing us to get up on-stage and listen to some orientation regarding the program proper.

After the Holy Week, it'll be all time to prepare for the graduation program but for me the graduation fever has finally began... Now I can feel the excitement that I will march on stage and will receive my college diploma; the reward of 5 years of efforts and sacrifices not only me but also with my family and friends.

Facebook’s Unique Security Feature

Just recently, I discovered additional security feature on the most popular social networking site in the world Facebook. Correct me if I’m wrong if I say it unique but it is the first time that I have encountered and has seen such security feature. I discovered it upon using a proxy server site to access my facebook account. I tried to access my account in a computer laboratory in our school but since facebook.com was disabled by our network administrator because of limited bandwidth offered and to ensure that students focus in their academic assignments. But it comes a time where I feel bored of not doing anything so I decided to try using facebook this time by using proxy server site nakatago.com. I succeeded to open the homepage of the website, but before I logged into my homepage, there were certain questions that were asked before I finally got into my homepage. Sorry to not include the snapshot of the exact things that the website asked me to do but you can try it yourself if you want to. The security check was composed of 4 parts; the first part was to input a captcha image, the second was to verify what was the last thing I did on the site before logging out to determine if I’m the one who did it, the 3rd part was that I asked for my password as part of their verification and authentication if I’m the real owner of that account, the 4th and the last part was just a confirmation that it was me who was the owner of the account and asked to log-in back. By the way the error that was prompted by facebook was that my account was accessed by different Internet Protocol (IP) particularly in the United States while my account was based in the Philippines. This mechanism is part of the feature of a proxy server site hiding the real IP address of facebook.com when the client requested for the website so that it will not be blocked upon its exit with the network in our university. The proxy site also used different IP address to log-in my account.

Honestly, I have been using many proxy server site to access some social networking sites in our school but this was the first time I encountered such security checking. Good for facebook to add such security checking as part of their security measures aside from its native identity checking. Maybe that’s why facebook.com is the most visited website around the world and the most popular social networking site not only with its cool and unique features but also its tight measures in terms of security.
